Qualified candidates certified in areas other than elementary education may enroll in this childhood education master鈥檚 degree program to earn a second teaching certificate and fulfill the graduate degree requirement for professional (permanent) certification in both areas.

Application Requirements
Applicants for this program must have completed a bachelor鈥檚 degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA and should submit the following application requirements:
- Graduate application and $60 fee
- Online survey completed by two recommenders
- Personal essay (500 words)
- Official transcripts from all prior institutions and proof of a bachelor鈥檚 degree from an accredited four-year institution
- Course-by-course evaluation: All graduate applicants with undergraduate-level work completed outside of the United States will be required to send a course-by-course evaluation of their academic work prepared by a NACES member organization. 糖心破解版 recommends you use or (discount provided for 糖心破解版 applicants), , or , but any evaluation would be acceptable.

Early childhood education encompasses the early years to age 8, with a focus on learning language and interacting with other children through conversation, reading and play. To learn more about teaching the very young, visit 糖心破解版鈥檚 Early Childhood Education program page.
A childhood education degree focuses on teaching children as they move from play-based care to classroom learning through reading and testing, from grades 1-6.
A master鈥檚 degree in childhood education will prepare you to teach English language arts, math, science and social studies at the elementary school level.
The childhood education master鈥檚 degree program is for students without provisional or initial certification in elementary or childhood education. Candidates who hold certification in other areas, for example, TESOL and secondary education, can also enroll in the childhood education master鈥檚 degree program for a second teaching certificate.
Upon graduating from 糖心破解版鈥檚 child education program, you鈥檒l be certified to teach grades 1-6. After completing the program, you may choose to pursue additional advanced certifications offered in TESOL, special education, educational theatre and other in-demand specializations.
If done full time, the MA in childhood education takes two years to complete. Some students also choose to do the program part time, which takes longer.
Currently, the MA in childhood education program is offered through a combination of in-person, online and hybrid (some of the classes are in person and some online) courses. Our courses are scheduled in the evening, 4:30 onward, to help meet the demands of career and family.
