Voting for the annual Bethpage Best of Long Island contest has begun and, as in recent years, ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ is well represented among the nominations, including these “best” categories:
- College/University
- College President
- College Sports Program
- Concert Venue
- Theater Arts Center
- Mascot
- Public Garden
- College Sports Coach—with five Panther head coaches making the cut
ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ is the “defending champion” for 2020 honors announced earlier this year in several of the categories, including College/University, President, Sports Program and Theater Arts Center. Nominations are set by a round of public input in late summer, while general voting continues through December 15. ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ nominations are in the larger categories ofÌýÌýandÌý. Individuals may vote once a day.
“A Best of Long Island award is a great way to promote our school spirit and our standard of excellence—both for our local community and for prospective students and families who are considering ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ for their future plans,” said Kristen Capezza, MBA ’12, vice president of enrollment management and University communications. “Best College/University is an honor we can feature across every unit, school and department of the University and is a special point of pride as we visit high schools around the country and worldwide.”
In the College Sports Coach section, ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ coaches on the ballot are Danielle MacKnight, volleyball; Pat McCabe, women’s lacrosse; Gordon Purdie, men’s lacrosse; Dominic Scala, baseball; and Melissa “Missy” Traversi, women’s basketball.
