Dear Students and Families,

This morning, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended a temporary suspension of the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) COVID-19 vaccine. This news follows reports of a very rare blood-clotting side effect discovered in six women in the United States, among more than 6.8 million administered doses.

Based on our commitment to the health, safety and well-being of our students, all appointments for Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be paused until further notice while health and safety agencies evaluate next steps.聽On-campus vaccination appointments for students will resume when and if it is deemed safe to do so.

Those who have already received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine should follow聽. Symptoms to look for include:

  • Severe headaches
  • Abdominal pain
  • Leg pain
  • Shortness of breath

If you experience any of the above symptoms within three weeks after vaccination, be sure to contact your healthcare provider immediately.
