Through her many experiences Olivia Autry is well prepared for the next stage of her career.

Tackling her academic studies is not the only thing OliviaÌýAutry will be working on this year.

The accounting major and Spanish minor in the continues to excel inside and outside theÌýclassroom. A member of several campus organizationsÌýand committees, including the Accounting Society, VoicesÌýof Inspirational Praise gospel choir and Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow, she is co-captain of the AU Paws StepÌýTeam and also serves on the Robert B. Willumstad SchoolÌýof Business Student Advisory Board and the StudentÌýTechnological Advisory Committee.

In June 2012, Ms. Autry took two courses—ConversationalÌýSpanish and Traditional Sevillano Dance—during anÌýenriching study abroad experience in Seville, Spain,Ìýwhere she lived with a family who helped improve herÌýSpanish speaking and comprehension skills and whoÌýgave her a deeper understanding and appreciation forÌýSevillian culture.

“Make it a priority to take every opportunity given to you,â€�ÌýMs. Autry offered as advice for ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ students. “LearnÌýto make the most of even the smallest of experiences, suchÌýas a boat tour, along the way.â€�

In addition to her course work and extracurricularÌýinvolvement, she is also a resident computer associate inÌýthe Office of Information Technology, where she conductsÌýworkshops for students and faculty and facilitatesÌýnumerous training sessions for new student employees.

Meanwhile, the Center for Career Development has beenÌýa major stepping stone in her path to career success.

Ms. Autry has participated in and attended the center’s events,Ìýsuch as LinkedIn workshops, the annual Job and Internship ExpoÌýand the Student Worker Training Seminar. Three programs, inÌýparticular, propelled Ms. Autry forward: the Alumni MentoringÌýprogram, the Community Fellows ProgramÌýand the Accounting On-Campus RecruitmentÌýprogram.

Through Alumni Mentoring, she securedÌýa mentor in her field of study, TomislavÌýKostadinov ‘10, who was workingÌýat Schwartz & Company, LLP, and isÌýcurrently employed at Goldman Sachs.ÌýMr. Kostadinov has been an asset inÌýhelping her narrow down her careerÌýchoices and he has offered invaluableÌýadvice. Despite a busy schedule, Mr.ÌýKostadinov has met with Ms. Autry andÌýchecks on her progress. And they haveÌýbecome friends along the way.

Selected as a Community Fellow, Ms. Autry worked as aÌýbusiness consultant intern at the Cedarmore Corporation,Ìýwhich reinforced her passion for business and accountingÌýby teaching these subjects to high school students. NowÌýan ambassador for the Community Fellows Program, sheÌýspeaks with prospective students about her experiencesÌýand also participates in panel discussions to promote theÌýprogram.

Participating in the On-Campus Recruitment programÌýwas the latest chapter in her career development process.ÌýThrough the program, she secured a summer internshipÌýin the audit department of Grant Thornton LLP, as wellÌýas position in the Deloitte Mentor Program. At GrantÌýThornton, she performed many of the same functions asÌýa first-year associate and participated in office enrichmentÌýactivities. At Deloitte, she was assigned a mentor to aid in herÌýgrowth process and participated in career-building activities.

Through her many experiences, she is well prepared forÌýthe next stage of her career.
