Personal Safety Practices
Protecting the wellbeing of our community is ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æâ€™s top priority. There are steps that everyone can follow to help prevent illness and the spread of illness.
Prevent Getting Sick or Spreading Illness
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially prior to eating. Hand sanitizer should be used if soap and water are not readily available
- Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands – including your eyes, nose, and mouth
- Avoid close contact with people and do not shake hands
- Cover all coughs and sneezes, preferably with a tissue that can be discarded in a closed container after use. In absence of a tissue, use your sleeve or elbow
- Clean frequently touched surfaces and objects including buttons, door handles, counters, workstations, keyboards, etc.
If You Are Sick
- Stay home. Do not go to work, class, or visit with people if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have tested positive. The New York State Department of Health for anyone who tests positive for COVID-19.
- Follow up with your physician in cases of severe illness or if you are at .
- Alert University Health Services and get guidance on your next steps for returning to work/class. Call 516.877.6000 or email healthservicescenter@adelphi.edu.
- Students should work with their professors to make arrangements for missed coursework.
- Resident students who cannot return home to recover may need on-campus isolation.
- Employees should inform their manager and refer to our Stay at Home policy.
Wearing a Mask
Since July 2022, wearing a mask is optional at ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ unless an individual was recently exposed or in isolation. After exposure or isolation, a mask is required for 10 days.
Some individuals choose to continue wearing a mask. The ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ community is supportive of individual choice and comfort regarding the continued use of masks.
